Caryn Swan Jamero – Executive Director
Caryn Swan Jamero has been Executive Director of CDSA for 17 years, and has grown the agency from serving 20 families on a $20,000 budget to serving 750 families with a 3 million dollar budget. She holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree from Evergreen State College, and a Masters Degree in Applied Behavioral Science from the Leadership Institute of Seattle, as well as an AA in Early Childhood Education from Miami DaDe Community College. She is also a graduate of Leadership Tomorrow.
While pursuing her career as a consultant in the education sector, and working with Wallingford Boys and Girls Center and School’s Out Washington, Caryn first became familiar with CDSA as a parent who chose our program for her own childcare needs. Over her years of service as one of two Executive Directors, Caryn has procured a variety of expanding private and public sector sponsors, most notably United Way of King County and Seattle’s Early Learning Network. She has also been an advocate for quality school age child care on the local, state and national levels, with highlights being her co-founding of Learning Partners Group twelve years ago, from which today’s alignment agreement with Seattle Public Schools was born, as well as being part of a task force for a national pilot project to test quality in school age child care — resulting in CDSA having the first nationally accredited child care program. To this day, all of our nine programs seek and maintain national accreditation. All of our pre-school sites are also funded by Seattle’s Early Learning network.
Because of our reputation as leaders in our field, CDSA continues to receive solicitation to grow into more Seattle Public School sites, and has earned this honor in several competitive selection processes, with our agency doubling in size over the last 3 years.
Well known In the school age enrichment care and kindergarten readiness field and advocacy community In Seattle, Caryn Is frequently asked to speak on behalf of children, families, and our sector. She Is pleased to have grown Into this leadership position over the years and to continue to give back to her community. Her adult children, now both college graduates, still live In the area. She has just welcomed her first grandchild.
Catherine Willis Cleveland – Director of Development
Catherine Willis Cleveland has twenty years management and development experience in the non-profit and for profit sectors. She has led teams of staff and volunteers in achieving a wide variety of goals, and most enjoys team building and creative solutions.
Her management and operations background culminated in seven years as a Store Director for Seattle’s Puget Consumers Cooperative, where she turned around profitability at several stores ranging from 13 to 20 million dollars in annual sales.
Catherine’s development work has ranged from grant-writing and advocacy for the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, to implementing an innovative store set-up featured in the Seattle Times, to working with the United Nations on the creation and funding of a building project in Nicaragua.
Having also worked for three years with the YMCA, Catherine was excited to revisit her passion for childhood education by joining the staff of Community Day School Association, to launch a Development Department. CDSA embraced her wide breadth of experience, her deep ties in the Seattle community, and her passion for making a difference in the lives of underserved children. Catherine has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Northwestern University, where she majored in writing and received a certificate in grant writing from The Grant Training Center based in Virginia. She is a graduate of Seattle’s ‘Leadership Tomorrow’ class of 2011, and a member of Seattle Rotary 4. Her hobbies include choral singing, hiking, and traveling with her husband Doug, an international concert organist, member of the University of Washington faculty, and Director of Music at Plymouth Congregational Church in downtown Seattle.

Liz Director – Director of Finance
Liz Director has twenty years leadership experience in organizations serving children and teens. She attended the University of Washington where she earned a B.A. in Economics and an M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance. Her professional experiences have included management positions with Seattle Children’s, Girl Scouts, and Children’s Technology Workshop as well as extensive volunteer experience in public schools and youth organizations.
Liz joins our CDSA team with a passion for early learning and quality out-of-school time. She is delighted to be part of a team with such deep roots in those fields. She looks forward to all the ways she can contribute to our CDSA community, and is excited about getting to know CDSA families!
Brianna Jackson – Director of Operations
CDSA’s Director of Operations, Brianna Jackson, is a proud Seattle native. After receiving her BA degree in Foreign Languages from Florida Atlantic University, Brianna came to work for CDSA.
Her career at CDSA began in 1998 as an Enrichment Teacher working in the summers. After graduating from college, she received the opportunity to return to CDSA as the Center Director at the Leschi Elementary site. Brianna remained there for two and a half years before leaving to join the Boy Scouts of America- Chief Seattle Council as a District Executive where she managed over 150 volunteers in various programs throughout the organization. A few of Brianna’s highlights at BSA were c0-coordinating the “Scoutreach” program where she was responsible for reaching out to under-represented populations to join the organization. Another noteworthy program was the “Children of Incarcerated Parents” program. For this, Brianna and several volunteers took scouts to visit their incarcerated mothers at the Washington’s Correction Center for Women Purdy who would lead scout meetings under Brianna’s supervision.
In 2007 Brianna became the Director of School Age Programs for CDSA. It was in that same year that Brianna and her husband, David, welcomed their daughter Bria. Brianna’s belief in lifelong learning drives her to want to always continue her own education/trainings in this field. When Brianna is not sharing her knowledge and nurturing spirit with the staff at all 9 CDSA sites, she likes to try new restaurants and watch movies with her girlfriends and family.
CDSA is very lucky to have such a talented, hard-working, and caring individual to lead its School-Age team.
Rhonda Withrow – Human Resources Director

With over 25 years professional Human Resources experience in a variety of environments, including: engineering, biotech, manufacturing and international human resources management. Rhonda serves as a true Human Resources Generalist knowledgeable in all disciplines of human resources management, including: recruiting and staffing, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, local and federal legal compliance, policy making and strategic planning. Rhonda received her certification as Senior Professional in Human Resources in 1999.
Beyond the general skills of an HR Professional, Rhonda also offers her understanding of operational processes and a personal commitment to creating and maintaining an atmosphere of trust and efficiency while serving the needs of individuals, supporting teams and meeting organizational goals.
Rhonda has been active in many intern and mentoring programs in her career and was on the Board of Directors of the YouthForce Organization. She was also an active parent volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America for many years.
Rhonda is excited to be a part of the CDSA organization and looks forward to being a part of the growth and future of the CDSA community.
Maile Kaneko – Executive Assistant
A native of Seattle and proud alumni of the University of Washington with a BA in American Ethnic Studies, Maile has a passion for learning. She has recently continued her education at Seattle University’s MEd in School Counseling. Maile believes in the education and empowerment of the whole child and that we must provide children and youth with the opportunities to be creative, be supported, and to learn so our families and communities can thrive. As Executive Assistant, her role is to support the Executive Director and CDSA through research, projects and administrative support. She is excited to be a part of the CDSA team!
Lindsay Holyan – Development Assistant
Lindsay Holyan is CDSA’s Development Assistant. Born in California, but raised in Washington, she has worked with children for 10 years as a swim instructor and swim coach. Lindsay received her B.A. in Political Science at the College of St. Benedict in Minnesota, where she also swam competitively for 3 years. While in college Lindsay embraced her passion for travel and studied abroad in Galway, Ireland for one semester and further to see Paris and Rome.
After college, Lindsay worked her way up from a swim lessons instructor to office administrator and facility manager. Lindsay is very excited to be a part of CDSA and hopes to develop strong relationships with the community and the CDSA families.
Flo Francisco – Finance Specialist
Florentino “Flow” Fransico is a South Seattle native who has been with CDSA as a Center Director and now as an Administrative Specialist for the past 4 years. He has 11 years of Early Childhood Education experience, 7 of which were spent as Director at Kimball’s Community Center Child Care Program before joining the CDSA team.
Flow and his wife Edelyn have two children, Jazasia 8, who attends Kimball, and Florenzo 3, who attend CDSA preschool at Hawthorne.
Flow’s interests outside of the office include being a member of the 2004 world champion break dance crew, Massive Monkees. Flow is also currently a SOWA coach and trainer and has been a karate instructor for the past 10 years.
Chantha Ouk – Human Resources Assistant
Chantha Ouk, a Cambodian American, was born in Aranyaprathet, Thailand during one of the hardest times in her country’s history. Determination and fate led Chantha and her loved ones to the land of opportunities where she was raised in the Pacific Northwest. A proud Washingtonian, Chantha attended Western Washington University and earned her B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Family Issues, Social Organization & Inequality. While at Western, Chantha was actively involved with a grass-root organization, the Khmer Student Association [KhSA] of WWU.
Chantha’s professional experience includes several years in Human Resources and is currently pursuing her PHR, and eventually becoming an HR Generalist. Married to her college sweetheart, Vannak, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and looks forward to starting a family of her own in the very near future. Often you will find her embracing her passion for music, singing, freelance photography, traveling and playing tennis. Chantha is ecstatic to be a part of the CDSA family and hopes to continue to contribute to this amazing life changing organization and enriching the lives of our future leaders.
