CDSA is pleased to be able to offer you childcare on site at Hawthorne Elementary School. The before and after school program is housed in a portable outside of the main building. It is a designated childcare space designed specifically for an out of school time program and is adjacent to the school art room. Both are located on the school playground. We are also fortunate to have the use of the school gym, library, cafeteria, as well as parks right down the street.

We also offer a preschool program, located in a classroom within the Hawthorne school building; we are accepting registrations for that program now.

National Accreditation (NAEYC)

CDSA is proud to announce that our Hawthorne location is now nationally  accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). To learn more about CDSA’s accreditation process and NAEYC vist our accreditation page.

Heidi Fray – Center Director

Heidi is a Seattle native and mother to an amazing 12 yr. old daughter, named Avalee. Heidi studied at the University of Denver where she received a BA in Education and a BA in Psychology. Later she attended National University in San Diego where she received an MA in Marriage, Family and Child counseling.

Heidi has climbed the cooperate ladder in Early Childhood Education/School-age Programming working for Easter Seals and the YMCA as Director of Childcare and Senior Director Community Development supervising multiple sites and programs. While she enjoyed seeing these programs grow and helping them reach NAEYC (National Association of Education for the Young Child) accreditation, Heidi became acutely aware that she missed being in a center with the daily exposure to children and parents. Thrilled to be a part of the CDSA at Hawthorne family and back in a center, Heidi looks forward to sharing her love.

Together with her team, Heidi will assist your children in growing and learning and share the joys that come with their development. Being a parent herself, Heidi knows all too well what it is like to drop your child off and go to work wondering how their day is going. Her experience as a working parent was wonderful because her daughter was enrolled in a quality program which focused on communicating to parents the milestones of their child’s day, and she is prepared to make sure Hawthorne parents receive the same. Communication is critical to peace of mind and Heidi assures you the CDSA Hawthorne team will keep you abreast of your child’s day.
