National Accreditation (NAEYC)

Jennifer Cooper – Maple Center Director

 CDSA’s Maple Center Director, Jennifer Cooper, is excited to join the CDSA Team!  After growing up in small town Pennsylvania, Jennifer moved to Philadelphia to complete her dual undergraduate degrees in Social Work and Psychology from Widener University.

In 2007 Jennifer moved to Seattle to pursue her Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Washington.  Upon her completion of her MSW, she joined the YMCA where she supervised a before and after school program for two years in Shoreline, WA.

While she is new to CDSA, she brings five years of experience administering and developing after school programming in the Greater Philadelphia area.  She brings to Maple CDSA her passion for community development, education, and fostering resiliency in youth.  When she is not working, Jennifer enjoys traveling, the arts, and exploring her relatively new home in the PAC NW!

Adam LeFebvre - Preschool Teacher

Adam is a third generation Seattleite growing up in the Mt. Baker neighborhood. he started working with kids about 14 years ago and continue to love it. His favorite thing to do is spending time with his wife Jeni, his son Jackson, and dog Edgar. Adam loves watching sports and cheering for his New York Knicks.

Giecel Panergo - Enrichment Teacher

Giecel is from the beautiful island of Guam and relocated to Washingon in 2001. She is currently attending Bellevue College, pursuing an Early Childhood Learning certificate and Business Management degree. Giecel’s  passion is to enthusiastically educate young children about the importance of learning and reaching their potential.

Her background include seven years of experience working with children from elementary to high school students within the Seattle Public Schools.

In her spare time, she enjoys playing the organ, taking walks at the park, eating out with family and friends and reading. Giecel is thrilled to be working at CDSA Maple and look forward to meeting and getting to knowing everyone!

Theresa Alfonso-Mendez – Preschool Teacher

Theresa has been with CDSA since July 2011. I have been in the ECE field since I was 15 yrs. Old. My first job was with inBillingsMontanawhere I lived for most of my teenage life till I moved toSeattlethe year after I graduated from Billing West high School.I was raised in the mind set of “it takes a tribe to raise a child”. I come from a very large Native American family were I was always caring for younger family. My first real job in education was at the Boys and Girls Club before freshmen year. I spent 5 years there as a youth counselor and role model in my community. I moved toSeattlein search of that perfect job and found that working with children was it.  I have my CDA in Preschool development. As well as working towards my AA in Bilingual Bicultural Education. I am a mother of two beautiful teenagers.Geneva(16) and Christian (15) are my pride and joy. I was born on the Crow Indian reservation inCrow Agency,Montana. I am Bilingual in English and Spanish.  I spend most of my outside of work time doing family type of such as visiting area beaches, festivals and family outings. I love to explore different types of foods of every culture, so I enjoy cooking for friends and family.

 Alex Pierce – Enrichment Teacher

Alex spent eight years working for the City of Burien doing summer and after school programs at their community center. He has worked with all school ages, from elementary to high school. Alex graduated last year from Central WashingtonUniversitywith a degree in teaching.   He is passionate about the importance of helping children succeed early in school so that they can grow into confident learners.On the weekends he works at thePacific Science Center, helping to ignite a love of science in children as young as 3.

In his spare time Alex loves exploring Seattle.  He’s a self-professed geek and love science-fiction movies, video games, and comic books. Also love finding new places to eat good sushi or Thai food with friends and family.  Alex is very excited to be working for CDSA and look forward to getting to know everyone this year!

 Yves Nichols – Preschool Teacher

Yves, a  proud mother of five children.  Jarrelle 22, Jael 20, D’Andrea 19, Victoria 12 and William 1.   She’s also the grandmother of Alexa Yves Nichols, who just turned two!  Yves have been in the childcare field for 20 plus years.  She successfully owned and operated a home childcare for 10 years.  This allowed her to stay home with her 3 older children.  Yves obtained her CDA in November 2008 and is currently working on her renewal process.

 She joined the CDSA team in September 2011 and is so excited to be able to work with everyone within the company as well as the children and families. In her spare time, she enjoys playing board games and having family talent shows.  Most of all she enjoys being a mother to her wonderful children.
